Thursday morning and I wake up to look at the Internet to see if the storm over top of us is bringing snow or rain into the clubbies and before you could say "Britzcampa" Nug had picked me up and he gave me a lift to the Sheffield pie shop. After staying over night in the camper and waking up to a world famous Sheffield stake and cheese pie J mac was there to drive me the rest of the way to temple as Nug went off on a heli trip.
I had not been to Temple for over five years but i had the strangest fealing that the man that was helping on the goods lift to get the cargo to the top had been there for more than my lifetime and still kind and happy to great us.
Gear on the lift and the car parked we were climbing up to the resort in the snow and it seamed that there was some sort of harmless competition as to who could park the farthest up the walking track. (this 4by4 won with chains on)
After we made it to the lodge from the valley floor the last of the clouds from the storm cleared and it was time to put on the gear have a bit to eat and we were up the hill as the last tow was dug out of the fresh pow.
The next morning this red view of Mt Rolleston woke me up.
With a great day riding behind them Dave, Johnny, Maria and Logan have a well deserved beer.
The sunrise was good in the morning but the sunset beamed gold light onto the top of Mt temple and some very scary lines.
The Temple Basin Lodge is got to be one of the best places to be if you want spend some real time in the Southern Alps and with so many friendly staff and three epic meals a day thanks to the chief combined with some amazing inbound back-country terrain this is a place i must recommend highly to everyone. Your going to have to wait to see what we really got up to on this trip in the mag. (Thanks Temple for a great long weekend)
